Our client is a public accounting firm. They seek a Tax Review to join their Manhattan, NY office.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate federal, state, and local income tax returns for UHNW individuals (Form 1040), partnerships (Form 1065), and S-corporations (Form 1120-S) prepared by junior staff
- Finalize comprehensive reviews of complex fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041) for trusts and estates, including grantor, complex, and charitable trusts
- Examine federal and state gift tax returns (Form 709) and support the preparation of estate tax returns (Form 706)
- Enforce accuracy and compliance with all applicable tax regulations and firm quality standards
- Administer compliance for foreign accounts and assets, including FBAR (FinCEN Form 114) and FATCA (Form 8938) reporting
- Advise clients as a primary contact on complex tax matters and provide sophisticated planning guidance
- Analyze detailed financial documents, including investment statements and K-1s, to capture all tax implications
- Coordinate with external advisors such as attorneys and investment managers to implement integrated tax strategies
- Mentor junior tax professionals through feedback, training, and oversight of planning projects and issue resolution
- Research evolving tax laws and identify proactive planning opportunities, including charitable and wealth transfer strategies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of tax review and preparation experience
- CPA firm experience
- Experience with UHNW clients
- Proven experience reviewing trust, gift, and estate tax returns
- Strong knowledge of Excel
